Dealer sells a BMW after a total loss! How to check if it's not crashed or repainted?

OP OP! The story of how we bought a BMW F30 320i in 2021 and almost ran into major problems.

BMW F30 320i with 100,000 kilometers on the clock and spun engine bearings. The car was sold without an engine, as we had an N20 engine available at the scrapyard, so this wasn’t a problem for us.

According to the seller, the issue was with the crankshaft, the body was in perfect condition, only the hood and rear hatch were painted, and the car was intact at the auction but had a mechanical issue.

A couple of days later, we agreed with the owner on the purchase, with a price of $9,800 after negotiations. Once the car was loaded onto the tow truck, it was discovered that the front left shock absorber was leaking oil. When I inspected the shock absorber, an unusual dip was found. It turned out the car had been damaged and reassembled poorly after an accident.

It turned out the car was intact in the USA, but in Georgia or Ukraine, it was in an accident and restored in Ukraine. The body was painted all around, part of the subframe was not original, the bumpers were not original, and there were issues with the suspension.

The seller, who was selling the car, turned out to be a fraud who wanted to sell a problematic vehicle with issues in the bodywork.
