OP OP! Today we have a video about the BMW F30 328 and 330i.
Before buying, it is important to pay attention to the price of the car. As of 2021, prices for the 328i started at $ 13-14,000 in an incomprehensible state, and the 330i was sold for $ 19,500-23,000. The difference of $ 5,000-7,000 is a significant amount for many, and it is worth thinking about whether you need a 330i.
Obvious differences between the BMW F30 328 and 330i:
1. Year of manufacture - the 328 was produced from 2012 to mid-2015 (for America until 2016). The 330 for Europe began to be produced in restyling, which began in mid-2015, for America from 2017. On average, the difference in the age of the car is 3-4 years.
2. Optics - front optics in pre-styling: ugly halogen, and in restyling LED headlights and LED fog lights are installed.
Rear optics: the difference between the taillights is very noticeable.
3. Body kit - minimal difference in the usual bumper (not M-package).
There is no difference in M-packages at all.
4. Interior - in pre-styling cars there is a matte climate, and in restyling it is glossy. The climate backlight in pre-styling is only orange, and in restyling it is white and orange.
In restyling there is a niche near the automatic transmission selector, which opens, and in pre-styling it is a simple insert.
5. Multimedia - in restyling, if you have the professional option, NBT EVO will be installed.
Pre-styling F30s have CIC and NBT installed.
6. Dashboard – since 2017, the LED dashboard option has been available in the BMW F30.
The F30 330i from the USA is more often equipped with a sports interior and a sports automatic transmission selector. In general, the interior is more pleasant in restyled cars.
7. Technical units – in the pre-styling the engine is N20, and in the restyling B48. The difference is that on the N20 the timing chain needs to be changed every 100,000 km, and on the B48 – every 200,000 km. Technical specifications in STOCK: N20 – 245 hp, and B48 – 252 hp.
8. Transmission – in the pre-styling the gearbox is 8HP45, and in the restyling 8HP50.
9. Chip tuning – if you don’t have enough factory power and decide to do Stage 1 or Stage 2, these engines show identical results.
Conclusions: for an ordinary BMW F30 user, the difference between the models will be mainly external and a little in the interior. Technically, the only difference is in the timing chain replacement intervals. Psychologically, for a potential buyer, the difference will be in mileage, years of manufacture and better equipment of the 330i. Everyone’s choice – is it worth overpaying for such insignificant differences?
