OP OP
Today we have a very sensitive topic, and specifically it was for me when we bought this Drum in the basic configuration on smooth ordinary leather sofa seats, not sports seats. I think this is also a big issue for many F30 owners.
We have 3 cars here
One of them is our F30 335, it has ordinary flat leather seats.
Then we have here a restyled F30 320 with sports seats from the factory.
And the 3rd car is the Drum where there are retrofitted seats with red stitching, but there are nuances there!
A short review of the basic leather seats on the cue ball from America; the Americans have basic seats - these are smooth leather seats with power accessories.
Europeans often have cloth seats, there are sport seats that are cloth, and there are often non-sport mechanical seats. Well, we mostly come across American chops, which is why leather flat seats are the most popular configuration. There is electric adjustment forward/backward and electric adjustment of the backrest at an angle; the lumbar region is also pumped up, this is quite a convenient option.
Many customers would like to change their regular seats to sport seats, as this improves the interior and + comfort.
Sports seats come with red stitching without red stitching, there are also individual lice, but these are all nuances. The options that we had for our drum within the framework of the project “FROM RAGS TO RICHES” are the simplest, but not the easiest in terms of money, to install European or American normal leather sports seats with or without red stitching, then they cost $1100-1200.
This option could have been installed further without any problems and then the lateral support, that is, hugging, could be retrofitted. But we didn’t choose the easy and expensive paths and decided to try to play with the sports seat option, but with the English version.
We took sports seats with red stitching from an Englishwoman. But there is a nuance in that all the driver's controls are on the right, so when you stupidly put 2 seats, nothing will work except the driver's adjustment.
We started experimenting with trying to make collective farm wiring, but later we decided on a less collective farm option: transferring the interior from my old seats, transferring the blocks, controls, and adjustments to the seats from the English one.
We moved to the restyled F30 320, where sports seats come from the factory. This is how it would look on the Drum if we bought them for more than $1000, here we have the options of tilt, memory, lumbar pumping and hugs.
But since we decided to play around with the rearrangement, we ended up with something different. After we transferred the entire interior to the sports seats, it turned out that the control units were the same as before these seats. And here we get one nuance: everything works fine except hugs. As you understand, ordinary flat American seats do not have this inflation button, because they cannot be there, and here we have a seat with inflation, but without a button.
We didn’t bother adding an additional button there and left it that way.
Many people ask us, is it worth doing collective farming if it worked without additional pumping?
In terms of money, it was worth it, if you buy seats 2 times cheaper, we estimated the work there at about $100, then it turns out that for $600-700 you get sports seats, but without pumping up the lateral support.
